AAA / Tier I Youth Hockey

AAA, also called Tier I, is usually the most demanding youth club hockey available in an area. The pace can be excellent, but a family still needs to look closely at the coach, the player's likely role, the school schedule, travel, and total cost.

• Players already thriving in a serious practice and travel environment.
• Families prepared for frequent travel, extra training, and a large season bill.
• Players who need strong competition before school, prep, academy, or junior decisions.

• Open tryouts or invite skates.
• Coach referrals from current youth programs.
• District or affiliate events tied to USA Hockey pathways.

• How much would the player actually play?
• How much travel sits on school weekends?
• Does the team produce usable video and a clear schedule?
• What is the development plan beyond the jersey name?

• Team fee, tournament fee, travel, hotels, meals, extra training, and missed school time.
• Parent travel capacity and sibling/family schedule impact.
• Whether the program has academic support expectations during heavy travel.
